6 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (May 19)
3. Solid Match-Into-Angle
Score another one for the decent angles series, because Mogul Embassy, Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes are coming to the party too. First of all, Dustin worked a nice main event vs. Bishop Kaun; it was cool to see the latter in a singles scenario, and even better because he kicked lumps out of Rhodes for 80% of the thing.
AEW kept something back for the post-match sprint too.
Lee rushed out to help Dustin fight off the Embassy, then ate another double foot stomp from Swerve Strickland for his troubles. Swerve and his reworked group then posed over Lee and Rhodes as the announcers wondered what would happen next. A singles bout between ex-partners, presumably.
That's been a long time in the making, and it needs to happen quickly before the distance between Swerve's original turn (in December last year!) and the bout becomes too great. AEW has just about kept this one ticking along, and this was a nice way to get to the singles showdown.
