6 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE NXT (Apr 18)

2. Hosses Collide

Lars Sullivan Killian Dain

It feels like Lars Sullivan vs. Killian Dain has been in the works for months now. WWE were seemingly building towards it at the turn of the year, before Sully took an unexplained TV sabbatical. They then pulled the trigger on NXT's April 4th episode, but it fell apart through multiple interferences, and it looked like the mini-feud would never see a true resolution.

Fortunately, we got it last night. Dain promised to go solo by fighting without the aid of his Sanity brothers (and sister), and stuck to his word. This kept his No DQ war with Lars full of bulls***, and they worked to the expected level, with Dain's athleticism standing out among the hard hits and assorted big lad spots.

With Killian and Sanity on their way to SmackDown, the result was never in doubt. Sullivan defeated Dain on his way out of the territory, battering him with a barrage of chair shots, before hitting the Freak Accident for the 1-2-3. A big win for NXT's top monster. It wasn't the best match either has had in developmental, but it was an entertaining hoss fight regardless, and delivered the right result. Here's to Lars' continued growth and elevation.
