6 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (April 19 - Results & Review)
1. This Meandered Along
Santos Escobar vs. Carlito was one of those matches that just didn't really need to happen. A promo on who took out Dragon Lee would've been enough, because Carlito couldn't match Escobar's zip in-ring anyway and their bout suffered for it. Honestly, this tale surrounding Lee, the LWO and Legado del Fantasma better get a move on.
Fans haven't been given enough of a reason to care about Dragon, so the 'whodunit' story is falling flat. Sprinkle on lame duck matches like this one and...yeah, the whole narrative is screaming out for Carlito to turn heel so everyone can get on with their lives. It'd be a lie to say Carly was on top form here, sadly.
Santos deserves better.
The match was only approx seven minutes long, but it felt twice the length. That's never a good sign. Later, another match went almost 20 mins and felt shorter, which really says it all. Triple H probably wishes he could have this one back and book a segment instead.
