One year removed from the their last televised match, TM-61 returned to action last night, overcoming newcomers the Ealy Brothers in a quick midcard calibrated solely to make Nick Miller and Shane Thorne look good.
It succeeded. Not only were TM-61 over with the crowd, but they worked their tails off from bell-to-bell, keeping a restless pace for the duration. Granted, Miller and Thorne weren't given long to shine, but they succeeded regardless. Their offence was full of zest and pop, their enthusiasm was palpable, and Thorne showed no signs of the knee injury that kept him sidelined for nine months.
Their opponents played their part, too. Though primarily there to do the job, Gabriel and Uriel worked a spot of Bellas-esque twin magic to seize control halfway through, but couldn't stifle TM-61 for long. Still, they look like a solid set of enhancement guys at the moment. Here's hoping they can press on.
With The Undisputed Era, Sanity, Authors Of Pain all doing the rounds, plus lower level teams like the Street Profits and Heavy Machinery, NXT's tag division looks great at the moment. TM-61 will make a smart addition, and there's no shortage of fresh match-ups for them going forward.
