6 Ups & 1 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Jan 31)

2. Five Stars

While we don't necessarily need to see individual highlight reels for every TakeOver match on shows like this, WWE's video production team always do an outstanding job, and last night's Almas vs. Gargano recap was nothing short of sublime.

The package was so strong, you'd have been able to see it was a five-star bout even if you hadn't watched it. WWE nailed everything from the tone and context to the action itself, treating the bout like the flawless epic it was, capturing each individual moment perfectly. Focusing on Tommaso Ciampa's post-match ambush made for a powerful closing scene, too, and only amplifies our desire to see Johnny Wrestling yank that hobo beard clean off his face.

As the two next worst bastards in the known universe (after Ciampa, of course), it was only fitting that Andrade 'Cien' Almas and Zelina Vega followed up with a gloating promo. Their line about Gargano watching at home while the NXT Champion shone in the Royal Rumble was spot on, and only amplifies Johnny's sympathy, regardless of where he heads next.
