6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (28 February - Results & Review)

5. Decent Match Dovetails

Orange Cassidy Nick Wayne
AEW

Orange Cassidy Vs. Nick Wayne was a decent, compact TV effort.

Nick Wayne's aerials were both beautiful and impactful as he blew Orange away early as the customary star is given a tough test Dynamite match. There wasn't a great deal to it - there was never going to be much in the way of true drama so close to a PPV title defence - but the work while it lasted was well above solid, and the Beach Break counter from a German suplex attempt was breathtaking.

In a weird moment, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett encroached on ringside. This was an International title defence. Could they have been so sure that Strong would go on to wrestle Wayne in the event that he actually won the title?

Daniel Garcia neutralised the interference and his distraction of Wayne allowed Cassidy to retain the title via Orange punch.

The finish wasn't fantastic, but this was a fun enough match. Tony Khan resourcefully built two PPV matches in one segment here, albeit in the most basic way imaginable.
