6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 14)

1. The Right Man For The Job

Literally the right man for the job.

Shawn Spears made his return to AEW rings on Friday, and he was given quite the straightforward mission statement: Make Jack Perry look like the f*cking man throughout, and help him level up the score at two wins apiece for himself and fellow World Title contenders/"four pillars" like Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin.

More of this, please. Seeing the top prize enter the Rampage chat was awesome, and so was Spears mentioning during a pre-match promo that he'd also love to be included in the World Championship business - he pointed to history with MJF and said he's "been chasing this dream longer" than most.

That pre-match speech added stakes to the main event, which you don't often get on Rampage. The finish was admittedly abrupt, but that doesn't change the fact that these lads worked really well together. Maybe they were running out of time, or something, and had to sprint to the end.

Never mind, because this did help Perry's cause.
