6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 25)

Wardlow = breakout star; AEW's regular segment gets monotonous; Britt Baker shoots.

Wardlow Shawn Spears

AEW fans already know the score.

Wardlow is readying a breakout babyface run that'll cement him as one of the company's true homegrown stars. The look on his face as Shawn Spears said, "I love you like a little brother" was priceless. Also, AEW deserve a ton of credit generally for turning the Powerbomb (a pro wrestling staple) into one of the most over moves in the biz again.

This was a good episode of Rampage. Last week's 'Slam Dunk' edition was solid, but Friday's show took things up a notch by delivering way more storyline development. That's something the weekly needs regularly, being honest, so it was great to see All Elite deliver something more akin to Dynamite on the story side.

Tony Khan is still trying to squeeze too much in though. Rampage's 60-minute format should allow things to breathe - it shouldn't become some sugar rush of matches and segments that all blend together. Khan should maybe ditch a regular skit as well, because it's doing nothing for the show.

Here are all the 'Ups' and the 'Downs' from AEW's latest.
