6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 25)

Downs...

2. “Might Have A Shoot Going On Here”

Nick Comoroto Wardlow
AEW

Chris Jericho said that line during the Nick Comoroto vs. Wardlow match.

OK, so pro wrestling has changed and words like "shoot" are wheeled out whenever promotions want to present something as serious. WWE do it, AEW do it - hell, even your local indy feds probably do it. That's fine in a promo context ("shooting from the hip"), but maybe not when a match is going on.

It feels different somehow. How come? Well, Jericho's comment made it seem like both big behemoths had decided to ditch AEW's match script and go into business for themselves. It came across like the legend was saying, 'Wow, this one is real and everything else isn't'. It wasn't intentional, and it was throwaway, but that's what this fan heard.

Others will view it differently, which is fair enough. This guy would argue that AEW should stay away from getting too "real", especially when matches are on. Just let people suspend their disbelief and enjoy the product in front of them.
