6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Mar 3)

4. This Could Work

Don Callis Konosuke Takeshita
AEW

Well bugger me, some character development.

That's something AEW has been sorely missing (not for everyone) for a while. Don Callis approaching Konosuke Takeshita backstage and offering to guide his career represents one very shrewd decision from the power players behind the scenes in the company. This could be gold, people.

Takeshita being heel might not work, but All Elite might as well give it a shot to keep him around longer-term. The dude has serious potential, and the core fanbase seems right into him. Sprinkle on Don's promos, and you might have that true breakout star everyone's been talking about Konosuke being.

If not, then seeing Takeshita clash with Kenny Omega in a singles feud would be loads of fun. Callis could be angry that Konosuke spurned his offer, and Omega could have some of those barn-burning bouts he's known for with another cracking Japanese star.

It's really win-win, and this was a sweet way to kick the angle off.
