6 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Emergence 2020 (Part 2)
1. History Makers
It's been a rather historic year for the knockouts division to say the least. Between Tessa Blanchard lifting the World Championship at Hard To Kill, and she and Taya Valkyrie having the first all female match for the title in question, Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynne Grace have joined the history-making club by competing in the company's first knockouts Iron Man Match.
The actual booking of the match didn't make perfect sense. The first of three falls didn't come until the final third of the match, when the defending champion first passed out during a submission. After recovering, she pulled referee Brandon Tolle in the way of a charging 'Thicc Mama Pump', despite being one point down. Had he not been revived, 'The Virtuosa' would've left Emergence without the title.
However, the action more than covered up these small errors. While not quite as good as their original Slammiversary bout, both ladies put in one hell of a showing, with Purrazzo focusing her onslaught on Jordynne's hand from the offset. It didn't do too much damage mind, as Grace landed the first fall with a rear naked choke, before losing the ensuing two falls, first thanks to being smacked in the head with the championship belt, and then after submitting to a Fujiwara armbar. Yet again, the torque Deonna achieved with the move was vicious.
It provided a fitting conclusion to Impact's most recent special event. Everyone and their dog knew that Purrazzo and Grace would deliver on such a stage, and boy, did they. It's a shame that this is likely the end to this rivalry, seeing as it's been one of the (if not the) best things in Impact in the no crowd era.
Once she returns from her Wrestle House excursion, Kylie Rae awaits for 'The Virtuosa'.
