6 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Emergence 2020 (Part 2)
2. Destined For Glory
Following his successful championship defence, Eddie Edwards found himself being blindsided at the hands of Eric Young, with ‘The World Class Maniac’ insisting that he would be challenging Edwards for the World Championship next Tuesday.
Just a short moment after, Eddie returned to the ring, and demanded EY meet him there and then, resulting in yet another terrific promo from a man who was once nothing more than a joke under the Impact Wrestling banner. One week after proclaiming he was elite before being elite was cool, Young spoke of his plan to retrieve the title from Eddie Edwards, a plan in which he claims to already be five steps ahead of. Even the way Eric paces while delivering these scathing promos adds so much to his maniacal character.
The brief brawl after the match was made official was perhaps even more intriguing though, as a team of referees and security did their best to separate the pair, before Eddie shoved executive vice president Scott D’Amore to the floor. Intentional or not, it was a little moment that added far more to the story than a promo ever could.
Impact have done a brilliant job in crafting together this rivalry thus far. Let’s just hope that continues in the pair’s actual showdown.
