6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (26 Feb)

3. Austin Practice, More Like

Theory Ciampa
NXT

Quite rewind to your writer's musings this time last week...

If Theory gets one back over Ciampa at some point (there's surely no way he can win next week's TV match but, still, he might at least look good in defeat) then this will have been good for him in the long run. If he gets poleaxed again just make Ciampa look unhinged then... well... they should have used someone else.

Delighted to report that, not only did they allow Theory to look competitive against the much more established Ciampa, but the crowd seemed to really warm to him throughout the match. It's not quite been a star-making short angle for him, but his stock feels comfortably elevated to the same level as, say, Cameron Grimes, despite only one of those two men picking up a win.

Last week's coming together has been addressed, he's picked up the rub from working with one of the top guys, it's proved to be a smart piece of booking and they can move him on to a program of his own now. Wrestling is, so, so, so easy to write sometimes.
