6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (26 Feb)

1. The PatientEST

Charlotte Belair
NXT

A lot of people absolutely love Bianca Belair. A lot of people were delighted by how strong she was booked in the Royal Rumble. A lot of people thought she should beat Ripley at TakeOver and get the WrestleMania match. A lot of people are now, really, really, really angry that she's been beaten clean on television.

This has, apparently, taken away all the momentum from her Rumble run, undone all the good work of the TakeOver build, and used her as little more as a goober in the Charlotte vs Ripley match. I mean, that's one way to look at it. Another would be that a young, not-quite-the-finished-article talent in NXT dominated the main roster in January, just fell short of reaching the top of the mountain, and then proved she could hang with one of the greatest of all time, all within in the space of a month.

Honestly, who the f**k did Bayley ever actually beat before getting her hands on the title and going on the greatest run with it in the belt's history? The whole story was those near misses, which created an incredible moment when she finally did it. Belair's time will come and, believe it or not, getting beat clean by Charlotte is actually part of the journey.

Repeat after me: If ? Your ? Favourites ? Never ? Lost ? They'd ? Stop ? Being ? Your ? Favourites ?.
