6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (5 March)

4. Tag Race Season 1

Undisputed Era Lorcan Burch
NXT

Speaking of divisions, it always sort of seemed that the sheer undeniability of NXT's women's program came at the cost of having a viable tag team approximation. In short, there wasn't enough ring and mic time in a two-hour show to have three distinct rosters all being pushed effectively, and even less chance of that when the Cruiserweight Championship was folded in. WWE hates tag team wrestling anyway, so nobody was all that surprised.

That made the Dusty Classic an astonishing addition to the NXT calendar this year, given that there were no actual tag-teams to fill it. Yet a mere 5 weeks after it ended, we have several teams all feeling like important parts of the show, with more underneath them to help push things along from week to week. The Broserweights, Undisputed Era, and Grizzled Young Veterans all made their case this week, with Lorcan and Burch getting over themselves in defeat.

It's nowhere near the depth of the single's title pictures of course, but these are such positive early steps towards writing one of NXT's major wrongs of 2019. Tag team wrestling is absolutely fantastic, and while the main roster has failed it, NXT will be all the better for its inclusion.
