6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2024
Ups...
6. Opening With Hot Tag Action
Kicking off any wrestling show's main card with a fast-moving tag is a tried and tested winner of a strategy. Axiom and Nathan Frazer were never realistically winning the belts here, but their match vs. Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker still had a nice flow to it and there were enough highspots to energise the live crowd.
As if Philly needed that. They were already hot for 'Mania weekend.
Bron's future is on the main roster, not NXT, so it'll be interesting to see what WWE does with the War Dogs team going forwards. Will Corbin join him up there, or is Baron gonna stick around on the developmental brand and help younger stars progress? That's a question for Triple H and/or Shawn Michaels.
This was a match that succeeded in spite of the lack of drama to that babyface challenge. Breakker hit some scary impressive power moves (his clothesline is a monster), but both bigger guys sold for their opponents. This wasn't a squash by any stretch of the imagination.
