6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE NXT UK (27 May)
Downs...
2. In Jinny We Trust
Which member of NXT UK’s creative team thought that a pairing of Jinny and Joseph Conners was ever going to be a good thing? They’re both tremendous talkers and in-ring stars in their own right; they don’t need each other. If nothing else, it acts as a way of getting Conners some television time.
Needless to say, they weren’t good here. A pre-taped segment of the pair mocking Dani Luna’s elimination from the recent gauntlet match saw them confronted by Flash Morgan Webster, with Conners later running down Webster’s modculture lifestyle. Stealing the SUBCULTURE man’s ‘In Mod we trust’ motto, the duo looked clueless.
So, Conners vs. Webster? Jinny vs. Luna? A mixed tag match? That appears to be where this is going. A glaring error here, though, is that Mark Andrews was nowhere to be seen when Dani was confronted. The whole point of SUBCULTURE is that they’re meant to have come together because of their unique backgrounds. If they can’t even be together in backstage skits, NXT UK’s writers may as well just give up with the group. It’s a minor gripe, but it does go a long way, especially in situations like this.
