6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 17)
2. Braun's Fear Of The 'Fiend'
OK, so Braun Strowman totally just gave away the result of this Sunday's 'Swamp Fight' with Bray Wyatt by saying he needed to end Bray before he turns into the 'Fiend'. That's fine though, because everybody knew the scoop when WWE revealed that Strowman's Universal Title wouldn't be on the line.
That told the world that Wyatt is winning to even the score.
The bright side is that Braun got to cut one hell of a promo on this week's show. It was maybe one of his strongest ever, and showed that he can be effective when he's not mired in silly comedy or asked to play the friendly giant. As a motivated, snorting bad ass, Strowman is in his element.
He also showed some deference to the 'Fiend' character by teasing that he's scared of Wyatt's alter ego. That'd be a compelling story thread heading into SummerSlam, if only 'cause it'd show a different side to the big man's personality.
This was good sh*t.
