6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Nov 24 - Results & Review)
4. Better Than Expected Comedy
Kevin Owens feuding with Grayson Waller and Austin Theory has been WWE creative on autopilot. It barely made sense (why did KO leave a tag-team alongside Sami Zayn on Raw to come over to SmackDown and...feud with tag-teams?) in the first place, and it's been a painful watch every other week.
Somehow, KO on The Grayson Waller Effect clicked anyway.
Theory dressing up as Kev cleared the way for Owens to land with some self-deprecating humour. He pointed out that Austin looked better as KO than he ever has, and the fans got a laugh out of that one. Then, LA Knight added some much-needed interest by coming out when he was mentioned and lining up a tag bout.
Was this a time-killing exercise? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean it wasn't enjoyable into the bargain. KO's whimsical observations about company tropes always work, and Knight upped the ante by appearing like magic to cut through the heels.
