6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 2)

Last week, fans in attendance for this double helping of SmackDown goodness got giddy at the sight of Pete Dunne. Oh yes, whilst he's still called Butch, this was every bit the 'Bruiserweight' that people remember from the independents and from NXT. That, dear readers, must be considered a major win for the guy.

He literally looked like his old self again.

Better yet, both Butch and Ludwig Kaiser put on quite the display in the last match on the broadcast. Put it this way: Sheamus and Gunther's seconds did themselves no harm bell-to-bell, and showed they can be relied upon to produce the goods if they're just set loose to wrestle. No surprises there, eh?

Creative also managed to keep Gunther and Sheamus, who collide for the IC belt at Clash, apart yet again. The whole segment was another watertight piece of business on an episode crammed full of those. Hopefully, Friday won't be the last time this pair works together either.
