AEW Collision Lee Moriarty Katsuyori Shibata
AEW

For those fans of smooth, silky, technically sound in-ring work, you know you're always in for a good time whenever Katsuyori Shibata is in action. Likewise, Lee Moriarty is another who always dazzles when afforded the opportunity. As such, it's no surprise that Shibata and Moriarty put on a stellar bout on Collision.

Not just did this follow on from Shibata, Hook, and Chris Jericho losing to Shane Taylor Promotions on Wednesday night, but it also served to whet the appetite for Hook vs. Taylor on Battle of the Belts directly after Collision - with a post-match STP beatdown of Shibata leading to Hook making the save and having a stand-off with Taylor.

As for Shibata vs. Moriarty, that ended with Shibata getting the 1-2-3 after landing his patented PK, and there was a lot to enjoy before we got to that finish. There was interference from Anthony Ogogo - who was also on commentary - and Shane Taylor, and a Moriarty leg-assisted DDT spot was a notable highlight. The match did at times veer a little too much down the 'no selling' route during its last few minutes, but not enough to truly take away from the overall contest.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010.
