6 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Collision: Holiday Bash (Dec 23 - Results & Review)

2. Eddie Kingston Stays Alive

Scrappy babyface Eddie Kingston started the Continental Classic by putting both his ROH World and New Japan Strong Titles up for grabs as part of the new Triple Crown. Then, Eddie went on to lose his first two matches to have a disastrous 0-2 record. That didn't stop him from advancing to the Blue League finals.

That, fellow fans, is how you use the straightforward tourney format to tell a story.

Kingston worked another fun match for the CC vs. Andrade El Idolo. Together, they closed Collision with a bang. Was it as technical as the opener? No. Did Kingston and Andrade hurl one another around like Lee and Cage before them? Nah. However, they produced a hard-hitting and dramatic finale to the round robin.

The Continental Classic has been hitting it since day one, so it's nice to see the first stage of the tournament end on such a high. Credit must also go to El Idolo for making Eddie look like someone who might be rough around the edges but can never be ruled out.

Great match.
