3. Important Announcement Descends Further Into Parody

Tony Khan
AEW

The important announcement was important, technically, but it hardly warranted the hyped graphic treatment ahead of time.

Khan announced that tickets for All In 2 will go on sale before this year's holiday season really kicks in. It's an inspired idea; a not inconsiderable number of people will purchase tickets as gifts or ask for tickets as gifts, saving them money. It did not warrant the announcement treatment, but then again, does anybody give a damn at this point? Does anybody even discuss what the announcements are going to be now with pipe dreams in their hearts?

The announcement graphic is a meme, it's been a meme for years, so why not pop a rating with it? Well...

It makes Tony Khan appear, if not quite a laughing stock, then incredibly desperate. It's a bad look. It does nothing to put AEW over as a hot, premium product. Just announce it on the show with no fanfare and save yourself the stigma.

The marketing in AEW, as with so much else, could do with significant improvement.
