6 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (2 Dec)

3. The Life And Death Of Jai Vidal

JONAH Jai Vidal
IMPACT Wrestling

Jai Vidal is a perfect example of IMPACT utilising a local talent as an enhancement talent to their greatest potential. He was actually involved in a backstage segment with Scott D'Amore to set up this bout, rather than just cropping up as 'currently in the ring'.

The set-up was wondrous. The execution was far better, though.

JONAH annihilated the Las Vegas native, doing so rather methodically. He knocked Vidal off his feet a couple of times before ever attempting a big signature move, taking his time to prove a point. Had he ended the match near-instantaneously, said point wouldn't have been made. When he ultimately dove off the turnbuckles, dropping his 330-pound frame on Jai's significantly smaller frame, it was a stark reminder that JONAH could easily be a killer heel as well as he was a lovable babyface as Bronson Reed in NXT. He flattened Vidal like he was nothing. Point proven.

JONAH's promo post-match effectively saw the Aussie declare war on Josh Alexander, his newfound reputation bringing a ton of attention - both wanted and unwanted - his way. That'll likely go down at Hard To Kill on 8 January, and will be a hoot, just as this was.
