6 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 28)

1. A Fall From Grace

This time last year, Sami Callihan was embroiled in a vicious rivalry with Tessa Blanchard, just a few weeks removed from their heated Slammiversary encounter, and three months before 'The Draw' would lift the World Championship from Brian Cage. At this point in 2018, he had not long faced Pentagon Jr. in their barbaric mask vs. hair match. Needless to say, Callihan has been one of the biggest talking points since arriving in Impact in late 2017.

Now, however, he's sabotaging Katie Forbes' latest photoshoot by placing his own face over the revealing images.

For someone who's been known to sink to some rather low levels to get one over on adversaries, this just isn't what Sami should be involving himself in. This is the man who glassed a rival's wife on her wedding day, who almost blinded the current World Champion with a baseball bat to the eye, who isn't afraid to tear it up in deathmatches. That he's now interrupting something involving Katie Forbes is abysmal.

Assuming this wasn't a one off, it means we could be seeing Sami Callihan vs. Rob Van Dam in the near future. A few years ago, that perhaps would have been an alright match. An ECW icon against a modern day star who is essentially a walking representation of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Now, it simply isn't appealing in any way, particularly if this is the backstory for it.
