6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jun 26)

2. Do Something With 'Cien'

Andrade 'Cien' Almas is quickly going the way of Tye Dillinger on SmackDown.

Him and Zelina Vega were backstage last night, cutting a quick promo in which they demanded competition. They've got a point. Here is the former La Sombra's schedule since joining the main roster as part of the Superstar Shake-Up:-

WWE have seemingly cancelled the Sin Cara feud, and now, Almas and Vega have been reduced to the odd 1-2 minute segment every other week. They're going nowhere. An act that looked like easy money back in NXT is being squandered, and it has nothing to do with the transition from niche product to mainstream. These two are stars, and are more than capable of occupying a huge spotlight, yet here they are, lost on the periphery. It's maddening, nonsensical, and baffling in equal measure.

It's too late to write Almas off, but he was drafted to the main roster two-and-a-half months ago, and he's still to do anything of note. On top of this, the bulk of SmackDown's major players are already occupied heading into Extreme Rules. There's no obvious solution, and that's worrying.
