6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 28)
2. Growing Pains
It wasn't objectively terrible, but Ruby Riott (with an added 't'), Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan's backstage interview was a big pile of cringe.
Their name, 'Riott Squad,' makes more sense than Paige's 'Absolution,' but all three need to work on their promos. Ruby's threats were entirely unconvincing. Her delivery lacks the assertive punch required to present her as a threat, though her partners weren't any better. Riott built Logan and Morgan up as "two of the most dangerous women in the company," and the latter followed up with a smiley, chirpy response that was as intimidating as a big bag of kittens.
Logan, meanwhile, appears to have carried the godawful 'country girl' gimmick she worked in the Mae Young Classic to the main roster. She came off like the a third Godwinn sibling throughout that competition, and it was the same again last night, with the newcomer blurting lines about "baggin' three big-game trophies" in a comically stereotypical Southern accent.
No one expects these three to be perfect from day one, and bad scripting certainly played a role in this segment's failure, but they have a lot of work to do.
