6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 28)
5. Prolonging The Tension
As was the case with this week's Raw, SmackDown kicked things off in typically formulaic fashion, though Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's opening segment still succeeded in pushing their storyline forward.
The Commissioner remains his brand's biggest spotlight-hogger, but his promo was solid. Bryan hates Zayn and Owens as much as Shane does, but he sees the bigger picture, knowing the talented duo would become huge assets to Raw if him and his boss just cut them loose. McMahon countered this by pointing out KO's assault on his father a few months prior, but reiterated his and Daniel's mutual trust by the end of the exchange.
Still, they weren't able to bury their tension entirely. They left with the lingering feeling that despite their agreement, there are still threads of ill will between the two, particularly when it comes to Shane's selfishness and inability to control his rage. A big Commissioner vs. General Manager flashpoint is still very much on the cards: we'll just have to wait a little longer to get there.
