6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 28)
4. All Hyped Out
The Hype Bros' split was a long time coming. WWE have been teasing it since Zack Ryder returned to action in June, and while the story has drifted on and off television ever since then, the company finally pulled the trigger last night.
It was Mojo Rawley, not Ryder, who ended the lowly tag team. The NXT alumnus ambushed the despondent former United States Champion as he delivered a dismal postmortem of their latest squash loss to the Bludgeon Brothers, screaming that The Hype Bros were over, and that their time together was done. Simple and effective, though Mojo's acting felt forced, and it's hard to see where either man will fit in on this crowded show.
The pre-split squash was solid, too. Harper and Rowan have a dumb gimmick, but they're a great 'big man' tag team, and extremely effective in situations like this. Their offensive manoeuvres are so hard-hitting and impactful that it's impossible not to get into their matches. They have a lot of work to do to overcome the goofy Bludgeon Brothers shtick, but they'll never have any trouble getting over in the ring.
