6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland (Results & Review)

2. Priest Perseveres

WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 Damian Priest Drew McIntyre
WWE

The moment Damian Priest tumbled onto the apron with his right leg stuck between the middle and top rope, everyone had to be holding their breath. The main event – and the health of the World Heavyweight Champion – literally hung in the balance.

While it hasn’t been fully reported whether Priest sustained any lasting injuries from that mishap, he deserves a ton of credit for persevering in his title match against Drew McIntyre, with the two overdelivering on expectations and producing a really, really good match from an in-ring action perspective.

The two worked around Priest’s limitations, but it never felt like they took their foot off the gas at any point, including a great sequence after Damian delivered a Razor’s Edge and they just teed off on each other, trading heavy bombs and finishers heading into the close of the match.

It’s a shame that the real talking point that came out of the match was McIntyre being screwed out of the title by CM Punk again, because it diminished Priest’s accomplishment in this main event. Hopefully, he gets his flowers on Monday night, because it’s well deserved.
