DOWNS…

3. Just A Match

WWE Raw Rusev Damian Priest

Just in case you didn’t get the message, Damian Priest’s eye was seriously bothering him during his match against Rusev.

The “story” of the first match in The Last Time Is Now Tournament was that Priest’s vision was impaired due to Aleister Black and Zelina attacking him with a fireball and gouging the eye over on SmackDown. Priest made sure to blink, rub, and generally make faces like he had an eyelash stuck behind his contact.

The match itself was fine, albeit pedestrian. The crowd was clearly burned out from screaming after John Cena had won the Intercontinental Championship and remained fairly silent throughout, which also might have been a function of it being impossible to view either of these men as Cena’s final opponent. Once you could dismiss both men as a potential winner, the match became an obligation to sit through.

Oh, Rusev won after gouging the eyes and nailing a Machka Kick. Riveting stuff.
