6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (17 June)

1. Santa Claus Escoburn

Jordan Devlin Noam Dar

Jordan Devlin’s appearance on Supernova Sessions was genuinely unbearable to watch.

For starters, the episode aired one year to the day of #SpeakingOut’s anniversary. That WWE filled this particular episode with near enough all of their contracted performers who were outed last summer was immensely tone-deaf.

In kayfabe, though, he and Noam Dar had excellent chemistry that would have made for an entertaining talk show skit had they not both been overtly cocky b*stards. It was cringey at times. Noam calling Santos Escobar “Santa Claus Escoburn” and thinking it’s an actual insult was insufferable, as was Devlin gleefully accepting a Noam Dar t-shirt like they’re best friends.

The former Cruiserweight Champion’s ‘exclusive’ of telling anyone who feels worthy anyone to stand up to him would have been fine had he not then tattled on A-Kid being in his private dressing room to Sid Scala. It’s not good heel work. It’s intolerable.

Look, your writer could pick this apart for a university dissertation, but the point has gotten across. Supernova Sessions doesn’t benefit anyone. Noam Dar can easily be used to benefit himself and the brand in an in-ring role. He’s a tantalising grappler; why is he trapped as a talk show host with the odd match here and there?
