6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (24 June)
2. Playground Material
Two back-to-back vignettes for the women's division were equally as meaningless; both wouldn't look a step out of place in a school playground scenario between the bully and a victim, albeit with added production levels.
McKenzie was hyping up Meiko Satomura, with Dawn interrupting her. Cue Emilia to state the obvious - they have unfinished business, shock and horror - before calling her a weirdo and wandering off while 'The White Witch' cackled. Immediately after, Mila Smidt(?) was shown in the UK PC watching Aoife Valkyrie from a distance. Jinny walked up to her, essentially asked why she was watching Valkyrie, and then told her to shut up once Smidt had responded.
For starters, who the hell is Mila Smidt? She's never once been seen in NXT UK, making this a terrible way to introduce her. Secondly, the 'I adhere to social normalities, therefore you're the odd one' schtick works for Jinny, but not for pure babyface Emilia McKenzie. She acted as a heel towards Isla, simply because Dawn was being herself. The role doesn't suit her at all.
As is often the case with these situations, there were easier, better ways to further these story arcs.
