6. Reed Ruins A Good Match

Ricochet Shinsuke Nakamura

Ricochet versus Shinsuke Nakamura is the epitome of a showcase match, where you send out two really good wrestlers to entertain fans. There aren’t huge stakes – beyond “momentum” and “bragging rights” for the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match – so we can just watch and enjoy.

And sure enough, Ricochet and Nakamura dazzled fans with a dizzying array of offense and counter-offensives as they burned through their repertoires quickly, before Bronson Reed ran in for a DQ, laying out both men in impressive fashion.

This all was set up backstage when Reed chatted with Ricochet and Nakamura, claiming that he should be in the MITB match because he beat Ricochet the week prior to losing to Shinsuke last week – and that loss came after dominating the entire match. It was clear that Bronson wasn’t going to just accept that his only loss on the main roster was going to keep him out of a signature WWE match.

This was a good move to have Reed batter two worn-out superstars, though it also was a cop-out for a match that deserved a finish.
