6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (5 June - Review)

4. Sonya As Proxy For Another Proxy

Becky Lynch Sonya Deville

Becky Lynch defeating Sonya Deville to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match should be a nothing burger, just a forgone conclusion.

But Lynch dealing with Deville’s interfering tag partner Chelsea Green multiple times while rivals Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark were looking on certainly made for a more interesting and competitive match. WWE subverted your expectations when Trish and Zoey came out and we got the attempted distracted rollup finish, which either works or often quickly leads to a match conclusion.

Instead, the match soldiered on, with Green liberally interfering and distracting Becky, to the point where it almost became acceptable if Deville won. But what was really at play here was what we can expect to be the same dynamic that will exist when Lynch eventually gets her hands on either Stark or Stratus – one of them will be on the outside providing a distraction or outright interjecting herself into that future match.

What we got Monday night was something of a preview for Lynch, with those future adversaries looking on. The difference here is that Deville & Green are nowhere on the level of Trish & Zoey, so The Man can expect a much more difficult road ahead.
