6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 1)

4. Completing The Journey

It’s obviously unfortunate that Becky Lynch suffered a separated shoulder at SummerSlam, which probably already had seriously changed booking plans post-PLE.

But they still managed to put together a pitch-perfect coda to her face turn Monday night, having The Man open Raw, dressed simply in black, rather than some ostentatious outfit. She spoke plainly, owned her failings, talked about trying her hardest, and then putting over the woman who bested her again.

The mutual respect between Lynch and Bianca Belair felt earned and very real, which is saying a lot on a scripted TV show. But then we saw it in action, as Becky was jumped backstage by Bayley and her cohorts, and Belair raced to the back to try to save her former rival. That just added an extra element to things, even as they were presumably writing Lynch off TV for a while.

As a fan, you now just hope it’s a matter of weeks, not months, before Becky is back in the ring.
