6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (20 March - Results & Review)

1. That Hot Start & Finish!

Drew McIntyre Jacob Fatu

Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu are presumably strapped to nearby hospital beds yelling at one another. They went to war on Friday night in North Carolina, which is exactly what they needed to do after everything that's gone on between them. The show started with the usual arrivals, but WWE put a cool twist on things by having Drew attack Jacob in his rental car.

McIntyre hammered Fatu and left him bloody. Then, Drew cut a fired up promo aimed at GM Nick Aldis before Jacob rushed out with a crazed look in his eye to get some revenge by splashing the indignant Scot through the announce desk. Yep, got to love this kind of dramatic kick off, and there was more to come.

It felt like the feud levelled up a bit here, and the image of a wild-eyed, bloody Fatu is exactly the kind of danger he’s been lacking for too long. SmackDown’s ending with both falling off a platform only feeds into the fact they’ll happily tear one another and themselves apart until Aldis slaps some kind of "unsanctioned" tag on a PLE match in time for WrestleMania 42.

Jacob should win there and move into the main event scene whilst Drew goes off to shoot some movies and heal up for a bit.

Bookending the night with violence kept everything on edge. McIntyre and Fatu showed up here or there at random points in the show, and that added a real 'anything can happen' vibe to proceedings. More of this please, Triple H.
