The MFTs vs. Wyatt Sicks feud has strangled SmackDown’s tag-team division. Last week, Damian Priest and R-Truth received the kind of attention from live crowds that both those squads haven’t. Thus, putting the belts on Truth and Priest this week was the correct decision by Triple H and his creative gang. Obviously, the true strength of any reign is shown by what happens next and not just the title win itself, but this was a solid start for these dudes.

Sure, the downside is that MFTs vs. Wyatts seemingly must continue, but it’s hard to be mad at the title switch. Truth and Priest defending against all comers should be fun. It's easy to feel sorry for JC Mateo and Tama Tonga, because it’s not their fault that WWE couldn’t see past the nothing rivalry with The Sicks. Hopefully, Tonga (in particular) gets to spin out of the MFT thing into something that better reflects his skillset.

A hot tag to Truth was a real highlight of the match, and so was a near fall that came after interference from the towering Talla Tonga around ringside. People in Raleigh kinda thought Truth was toast after eating that chokeslam onto the ring apron. Not so fast. 'Super' Ron Cena stares at the house lights for no fool, especially not JC Mateo.

His win with Priest got a big time pop, which must've raised a few smiles behind the curtain. Truth just keeps on finding ways to remain relevant no matter how often he's downplayed, overlooked or giggled at. No, WWE don't get a pass for bungling his serious comeback as Ron Killings in 2025, but this is a neat olive branch and an improvement for SmackDown's doubles division.

That's what's up.
