SmackDown has been killing it recently.

No, ratings aren't exactly through the roof, but WWE have been producing a solid pro wrestling show on Friday nights since they rid themselves of cross-brand warfare in the lead up to Survivor Series. Last week was a stunning step in the right direction that earned more than three times as many 'Ups' as it did 'Downs'.

Of course, follow up is everything. The good news? This week's show did follow up on last week's fun in a big way, and there's a little sprinkling of positivity surrounding things heading into TLC on 20 December. The main reason for that is Roman Reigns; he's transformed from an occasionally yawn-worthy babyface into wrestling's best character.

There are no exceptions.

Friday proved that yet again, and WWE even managed to go beyond their usual tributes for fallen greats elsewhere. Pat Patterson was given an emotional send off by a company that adored him - his memory also managed to integrate itself with current storytelling and progress the product. Pat would've been proud of that.
