6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 3)

2. John Morrison's Cameo

This is more cheery news for The Miz.

John Morrison stopped by to announce that his old buddy didn't feel like talking to Cathy Kelly after his bratty antics earlier. Crucially, JoMo was all smiles and acted laid back. He didn't give away the big picture quite yet; look for Miz and Morrison to return to their heelish roots. Man, this is 2010.

Retro goodness isn't a problem for this pair. Think about this: The Miz will be moved over into the tag-team division (thus giving New Day a proper, threatening duo to up against during 'Mania season) and Morrison will gain instant credibility by default with younger fans who don't really remember him.

It's win-win, both for the old 'Dirt Sheet' gang and New Day. They've been spinning their wheels ever since Kofi Kingston lost the WWE Title anyway, and they badly need something high-profile during the most important three-four months of the year.
