6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 2)
5. Last Man Standing
Confession time.
This scribbler wasn't thrilled when Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville told an outraged Sami Zayn that he'd be working Kevin Owens in a 'Last Man Standing' match last week. However, even he who hates all these rematches must admit that these old rivals brought it and produced a slow-burning epic.
"Fight forever" didn't need to be literal, but damn was this good or what? The table bump was phenomenally-worked, and KO's fighting spirit came to the fore as the bout roared towards a satisfying conclusion. If WWE must book endless strings of rematches, then they need to be this well-done from here on out.
Creative should consider splitting these guys up for a while now though. Nobody needs to see Sami and Kevin wrestle for at least another 12 months, especially after a blowoff this stunning. It was so good, in fact, that it's getting another 'Up'...
