6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 23)
2. Good Build & A Better Match
WWE ran a quick video package that put The Usos above teams like LOD, Demolition and The Dudley Boyz. It was short, to-the-point and definitely an example of recency bias, but...why not? The promotion's mission is to promote what's happening now, not put over tags from 20-30 years ago.
No-one should have a problem with it.
To follow up, creative then placed Jimmy and Jey in a hotly-contested headliner against a team building some momentum of their own. Butch and Ridge Holland more than held up their end of the bargain against The Usos. One of their near falls towards the end, for example, was thrilling and sucked fans in.
This was a solid, solid match, and yet more proof just how wonderful The Usos are as the linchpins of this division. WWE should keep the belts on Jimmy and Jey until a babyface team catches fire and deserves to take all four from them.
