6 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (Feb 10 - Results & Review)

2. Nice Showcase For Champion And Challenger

It absolutely remains a breath of fresh air for AEW Collision to feature more than just one women's match per episode, and hopefully that's something that remains in place for the foreseeable future. And this week, Collision's two ladies bouts served to nicely highlight both the champion and challenger ahead of the AEW Women's Title match at Revolution next month.

First up, Deonna Purrazzo got herself a very comfortable win over Kiera Hogan, getting the verbal tapout with the ever-impressive Venus de Milo. Obviously, this bout was simply here to make the Virtuosa look like a top-tier challenger ahead of facing Toni Storm at Revolution. As such, it was fairly basic, relatively one-sided, and did exactly what it needed to do.

As soon as Purrazzo made her way to the back, though, she was passed by Timeless Toni, Luther, and Mariah May as they made their way to the ring for Storm vs. Queen Aminata. This one was a smidge more competitive than Purrazzo vs. Hogan, and a few minutes longer, but Toni did get to show some great aggression, making it feel as if she's trying to hammer home a message to Deonna.

Aminata may have got a little too much offense here for some, but she was eventually put away with the Storm Zero, before Toni then announced the premiere of her latest movie, Wet Ink, for next week's Dynamite.

Any frequent readers of the Collision Ups & Downs will have seen plentiful calls for AEW to sign Queen Aminata, and those calls won't be going away any time soon. However, Animinata is in a somewhat tricky place right now, where she forever impresses with each subsequent AEW outing, yet her not being under contract with the promotion means she's unlikely to be given any notable wins - as shown by her AEW TV record being eight losses from eight matches.

If Queen Aminata is to be taken seriously, she simply can't keep losing each and every week. Get her signed, get her some wins, and AEW will have a hugely promising talent on its hands.
