6 Ups & 4 Downs For WWE Raw (28 July - Results & Review)

2. False Dawn

It would be so easy to line up the praise for Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross every time they have a decent-to-good backstage segment, but by now, we all know better. We’ve seen this play out in the ring twice, and it hasn’t been all that good. So why would the third time be a charm?

Sami was in the middle of a sit-down interview with Corey Graves, talking about how he is hoping to be done with Kross after SummerSlam, when Karrion and Scarlett walked in. Kross noted that everybody he encounters eventually shows their true colors – except Sami, and that pisses him off.

Zayn replied that Kross is the one who has it all wrong and pledged that it would be Karrion who had to admit he was wrong after SummerSlam.

Maybe, just maybe, there will be some great revelation or character development from Sami that stems from this. If so, fine, hold the hands up in a quiet acknowledgement. But until that actually happens, this just feels like another false dawn – a bit of hope that things will work out just fine because the backstage talking segments are intriguing to some.

There is also the possibility that all of this ends at SummerSlam and it’s Kross’ swansong in WWE, which would feel even weirder after all of this.
