6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash (Dec 27 - Results & Review)
2. Jon Moxley’s Knee?
The commentary team talked fans through Jay White's vicious attack on Jon Moxley's knee during a recap of their Gold League match. That happened before the opening three way to establish a Gold League winner, but it was barely mentioned again. Huh? What a puzzling bit of presentation.
Why highlight the possible knee troubles if they weren't going to be involved in either Moxley's match on Dynamite or the setup for his finale vs. Eddie Kingston at Worlds End? Neither White nor Swerve went after Jon's leg much during the opener, and Kingston didn't even bother mentioning the weakness during his promo.
Weird.
Moxley did do a tiny bit of selling mid-celebration following the triple threat, but that was it. Excalibur, Tazz and Tony Schiavone largely ignored the knee in favour of other things, which rendered it useless as a story beat. Surely Mox's knee should've been the narrative glue?
