6 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (19 August)
1. Doering Stands Out

Joe Doering was missing that one standout performance in IMPACT Wrestling to remind everyone of the Joe Doering that dominated All Japan.
Until last night.
His match vs. Doc Gallows was deserving of the main event slot. Their handful of confrontations in multi-man contests paid off beautifully here, as a pure hoss fight broke out between the pair. What enhanced the match is that referee Brian Hebner was lenient with the rules, ignoring the ten count outside and refraining from disqualifying Gallows for using a chair at one point.
Once they reached the stage, Doering and Gallows approached boiling point. The Violent By Design man was slammed through the stage in a tremendous spot that got the ovation it needed. Had there not been an IMPACT Plus special the following day, the show could have ended there, with both guys laid out in the rubble. Instead, a Lariat caught Gallows mid-flight as Doering won his IMPACT defining match.
Everything worked here. Karl Anderson and the rest of VBD didn't get involved, leaving Gallows and Doering to work a straight big beefy bout. The stage spot was a legitimate surprise, but one that was needed for such a contest. This ruled hard.
