IMPACT Wrestling was right to acknowledge Deonna Purrazzo and the Good Brothers' respective wins over the weekend at AAA's Triplemania XXIX and New Japan's Resurgence, respectively. They had hyped them in the build on their social media pages, so it would have been a tad odd had they ignored the outcomes.
The video packages showed Deonna claiming the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship from Faby Apache with a Queen's Gambit/Fujiwara armbar combination, beginning the reign of Deonna Two Belts. Meanwhile, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Jon Moxley and surprise partner Yuji Nagata, pinning 'Blue Justice' with a Magic Killer before coming face to face with the Guerrillas of Destiny.
This worked. Deonna is on a tear right now, while Gallows and Anderson are delivering some consistent work. It's key that these moments are featured so long as the Forbidden Door is open. Deonna couldn't have simply turned up on this episode with AAA's title without an explanation, for example. The simplistic packages add to the overall arc.
