6 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (March 11)

1. Brawls For All

Ciampa Gargano
NXT

Just going to quickly quote myself from earlier here...

I've made the complaint before that virtually every feud, every story, every rivalry in NXT only ever seems to be instigated or advanced by everyone having a non-sensical brawl. Yes, this is wrestling and yes, people like to hit each other a lot, but the show often feels like it's only got one gear and, as good as it is, it's a bit exhausting. After a while you just sort of get numb to it all.

When you actually do require one though (because, oh, hey, I dunno, the heat in the story has reached boiling point and your two focal points simply cannot do anything other than rip and tear each other apart) they need to feel impactful. They need to feel inevitable. They need to feel necessary. Our closing altercation between Gargano and Ciampa felt like all of these things and then some.

With their story starting at the Performance Centre, them finally getting their hands on each other in the Performance Centre, and even using the Performance Centre itself as a weapon, there was delightful poetry to this. The feud thus far hasn't really clicked for either man, but hopefully, this is the start of much better.
