6 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (March 11)
5. The Spice Of Life
All I wanted was for Kieth Lee to wrestle new and varied opponents. All I wanted was for the North American Championship to feel like something the entire roster should be aspiring to. All I wanted was for the men's division, of which 80% of its stars have very little to do week on week, to just have one central focus that it could rotate people in and out of. Finally, this week, we got all of that.
Cameron Grimes has been overdelivering on the show in virtually all of his appearances. He's got himself into a position where he was a genuine contender for the North American Championship, if not quite a believable challenger. He is not on Kieth Lee's level, but he's not hurt by losing to him in what was a fairly back and forward encounter.
There's no shortage of candidates for spots like this. Kushida and Mendoza both made a case later in the night, and whoever emerges from the upcoming Austin Theory and Tyler Breeze spat will also be worth a look in. Having the match descend into yet more drama between Lee, Dijakovic and Priest is a bit predictable but at least they're not the only faces in the picture.
