6 Ups & 4 Downs From NXT TakeOver: XXX
5. Corey Graves Comes Home
Speaking of reminders of how far this little old black and yellow wrasslin' show has come, NXT old boy Corey Graves was given the nod to return to his commentary stomping grounds for one night only.
This turned out to be an inspired decision as Graves seemed to revel being part of the TakeOver extravaganza once again. It was also lovely to hear him not playing the role of petulant nuisance for a few hours, which is sadly what most main roster fans are exposed to whenever he's paired with Michael Cole on Friday nights.
Graves' appearance did mean there was no Mauro Ranallo, though, with the NXT fixture instead spending time with his family back in Canada.
Away from the announce desk, WWE managed to hammer home the significance of the occasion that bit more by having a number of NXT alumni show up in the crowd. Main roster Women's title holders (SmackDown, Raw and Women's Tag Team) Bayley and Sasha Banks appeared early in the night, while WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and SmackDown Tag Team Champion Cesaro also popped in to check on the action.
It's a little detail, but the return of some of the familiar faces who made NXT the show it is today was a welcome addition to this milestone event.
